Step on board MS Himmeltind and take your time to visit the big islands; Husøy, Sanna, Sandøy and Holmen and then return back to Selvær in the evening.

Taking the local boat to Holmen, you will find beaches most would never expect here at the Polar circle. Bring your own food and water. And maybe bading suits as well. The trip takes you only ten minutes.

You can continue10-15 furter minutes to Sanna. Here you find a small community, but still no grocery or shops. This island is wild and full of places to discover. You can also get to one of the tops through a tunnel or by walking and a little climbing up a steep path and from get a beautiful view over an enormous part of the region of Helgeland and Lofoten.

Do not forget do look for the hidden Kirkehelleren, our local cathedral, while on Sanna. You’ll get stunned.

The island Sanna, 12 km south of Selvær is magic - all year round.

ON YOUR OWN

Use your own vessel and go on a trip. Whether you paddle, row or take a motorboat, a journey of discovery awaits you that you can hardly find anywhere else than here on the Helgeland coast; crystal clear water, solitude, wild nature and a daylight that changes with the weather and time of the day. It is unforgettable.

BE CAREFUL

On Holmen, ten minutes boat trip south of Selvær, you will find beaches all for your own. Remember the difference between low and high tide is 2,5 to 3 meters. So the beaches will differ in size during your stay.

Even on hot summer days with calm winds and scorching sun, the sea temperature is the same. It is definitely not bathing temperature and can be directly dangerous if you fall into the sea and it is far to land.

If you paddle a canoe or kayak:

Always wear warm underwear all over your body, use a life jacket and bring a dry change in a waterproof bag, even on short trips.

Keep your mobile phone in waterproof packaging.

Stay close to shore so that you do not spend more than a few minutes to swim ashore.

Report to locals how you plan your day. They will give you important tips, which can save you a lot of trouble, as well.
